Detect connected visitors, start chats first, and email unread messages

What this solves

Lynx Live Chat Proactive

Turn live chat from a purely reactive channel into a proactive one. Operators can see who is connected right now, open a conversation before the visitor asks, and never lose an unanswered message: anything left unread past a configurable delay is emailed to the visitor when an address is known.

Works for both same-origin Lynx website traffic and cross-origin embeds (e.g. the Patrii Console and customer sites) using a single presence heartbeat, so a visitor is reachable as soon as the widget is loaded - not only once they start typing.

Key Features

  • Connected-visitor presence - a heartbeat marks every widget-loaded visitor online in real time, across same-origin and cross-origin embeds.

  • Online Visitors view - operators browse currently-connected embed visitors in the backend, with linked partner and project context.

  • Operator-initiated chat - a 'Start chat' action opens a live-chat conversation with a connected visitor; the greeting is delivered on the visitor's next heartbeat even before they engage.

  • Unread-message email fallback - a scheduled job emails the visitor any operator message left unread past a per-channel delay, with a link to resume the conversation.

  • Resume links - signed, short-lived links re-attach the visitor to the original conversation on the originating site.

Auto-Installation

This module is not auto-installed. Enable it on a live-chat deployment to add proactive outreach and offline email fallback on top of the standard Lynx live-chat stack.

Integrates With

  • im_livechat / website_livechat - the live-chat substrate and visitor tracking for same-origin traffic.

  • lynx_livechat_helpdesk - cross-origin embed identity, presence, and guest linkage.
